Our Story

For a long time now, British Cinema has had something of a reputation for producing gritty no-holds-barred accounts of life on our sceptred isles. There is something unique about the British Working Class that is captured well on film (think, Trainspotting), but doesn’t always do so well on paper.

It’s more than about just being gritty, however. After all, we’re not trying to be edgy for the sake of it. The fact is, the edge is just where some of us live most of our lives. And we at Plastic Spoon have decided to shine a light on that and – at times – to even celebrate it.

We are interested in books for therapists who are happy working and thinking outside of the box, self-help books by authors who do not claim to have it all together, books that explore unconventional relationships and authors who advocate for and celebrate neurodiversity.

So, if you are interested in books that describe or discuss life on the edge – the struggle of ordinary people leading ordinary lives – stick around.
